Tale Ten

This is the scene in Belleville after the catastrophic collapse of the Ontario Business College premises at the northwest corner of Front and Bridge Streets (now the site of TD Bank) on August 28th, 1901. The tracks of the street railway are visible in the foreground.

The collapse was caused by inadequate support of an internal wall during a construction project. Fortunately there were no casualties, as there were no students or staff in the building at the time.

The business college provided courses in office and financial administration, attracting students from around the world.
