Tale Seven

This photograph was taken at the Sandbanks in Prince Edward County in the summer of 1910. The family in the foreground are the Carruthers: twin brothers Harold (centre) and Richard (right), and Richard’s wife, Jean (formerly Keller), and their children, Hattie (left) and Millie (centre).

Harold Carruthers (1882-1963) was the proprietor of the City Hotel on Front Street in Belleville, while Richard (1882-1950) and his family lived in Marmora, where Richard was the publisher of The Marmora Herald newspaper. Jean ran the Sunday School at the Marmora Presbyterian Church.
