Epilogue

TWO WORLDS

Out of the world of noise and smoke,
Out of the world by hard times broke,
Out of the world of maddening pace,
Where rush we must or drop in the race,

Out of the world of concrete lanes,
Out of the world of crystal panes,
Out of the world of trucks and cars,
Electric lights that dim the stars,

Out of the world of formal dress,
Out of the world’s financial stress,
Out of the world of buildings high, -
Towers of Babel in the sky,

Out of that world we eleven ’scaped,
Into a world with verdure draped,
Into a world of waters pure,
Where the birch and pine trees lure,

Into a world of banks and braes,
Into a world of rivers, bays,
Into a world of mossy trails,
Of sunny hills and shady vales,

Into a world of sunshine bright,
Into a world of pale moonlight,
Into a world of quiet joy,
Of wholesome fun without alloy.

Two worlds standing side by side
And in both we can abide;
In one we must, the other may;
In one must work, the other can play.
