18 July 1932

To-morrow was the 19th so that meant that to-day we must pack our dunnage bags, I wondered If I had everything. Let me see,- two blankets, a quilt, rubber ground sheet, complete change of clothing, cushion, raincoat, fishing tackle, eating utensils, camera - and so on down to the toothbrush.

Everything which was necessary for an eleven day canoe trip up the Trent seemed to be safely stowed away with the things I would need first farthest from the top.

Experience would teach me ere long to put them nearer the top.
