Minor family

The 1881 assessment roll for Foster Ward in Belleville lists a labourer called George Miner [Minor] living on lot 9 on the south side of Franklin Street.

The Minor family were also living in Belleville at the time of the 1861 census:

At that time, George and Rebecca had three children: Isabella (9), William Thomas (4). and John A.  Ten years later, John's name is missing, but there is another child, George, listed:

Rebecca died of paralysis on 20 December 1882 at the age of 60.

DIED

In Belleville, on the 20th inst., REBECCA, beloved wife of George Minor, in the 60th year of her age.

The funeral will take place on Friday afternoon at 3 o'clock, from her late residence, Franklin St. near Bleecker's Mill.

 George was married again on 12 September 1885 to Margaret Barnes, a 38-year-old Englishwoman born in Hampshire. The wedding took place in the Anglican church of St. Thomas in Belleville. George gave his place of birth as Queenston Heights, Ontario and his parents' names as George and Margaret Minor. He died in Belleville 12 years later, on 20 April 1897.
